The object, and what marks it out
Sleeve, labels and inserts
- No paper label - picture disc, printed across the playing surface with Derek Riggs' clairvoyant painting.
- Card display sleeve - black with yellow corner banners.
- The exclusive banner is present - the large folded blue polythene sheet with the band logo. Discogs describes it as “35cm x 93cm Iron Maiden banner, which is of polythene, not paper”, and what is photographed here matches that: a plastic sheet, folded, not a paper poster.
What distinguishes this pressing
- The official UK picture disc with its banner still present - the part most often missing from surviving copies, and what separates this from folder 15, which is the same release without its banner in frame.
- The clairvoyant painting, against the album cover and live photographs of the unofficial picture discs in folders 10 and 16.
EMDP 1006- a distinct catalogue number from the black-vinyl UKEMD 1006in folder 1.

Condition, from the photographs
A photograph cannot grade a record - this is a description of what is visible, not a grade.
- Card sleeve: light handling wear; corner banners intact.
- Disc: printed surface clean and bright in these shots, with the light sheen normal for a picture disc.
- Banner: intact and complete, with fold creases through it from long storage - expected for a polythene sheet kept folded in a sleeve for decades.
Nothing on this page comes from playing the record. No Goldmine grade is claimed for it, or any other. I have no record of where this copy came from.
What is settled, and what is not
Confirmed. The catalogue number EMDP 1006-B is printed on the disc, and the polythene banner matches Discogs' description of release 1348869. There is exactly one UK picture-disc edition of this album.
Standing caveat: this method cannot exclude a pressing absent from Discogs altogether.
Worth checking, to establish completeness rather than identity: Discogs also records a “single leaf 12\" square insert, printed on both sides” and a “PVC sleeve with a lip” for this release. Neither is visible in these photographs. With the banner already present, if the insert and PVC sleeve are there too, this is a complete copy - which is worth knowing and worth recording.
