The shell reads Dupliqué en France par EMI PATHÉ-MARCONI S.A. with SACEM SDRM and a French rights notice; the inlay's fan-club panel reads Marketed, manufactured and distributed by EMI / Printed in Holland by EMI Services Benelux B.V., Uden. 2792381 records exactly that split - it is the French row, and its credited companies include EMI Services Benelux B.V. [Printed By]. The other row on 264 7 90258 4, 2943925, records the rights society as GEMA, which this object does not carry

The object, and what marks it out

Sleeve, labels and inserts

  • Shell - clear plastic with white on-body print, no paper label, red pressure pad spring visible.
  • Inlay - the standard artwork J-card with a separate lyric fold-out and a fan-club thanks panel, English throughout despite the French duplication.
  • Condition - card creased at the folds with light rubbing to the front panel; shell clean and the French notice fully legible.

What distinguishes this pressing

  • SACEM SDRM on the shell - the French rights societies. 2943925, the other row on this catalogue number, records GEMA instead.
  • Printed in Holland by EMI Services Benelux B.V., Uden. on the card - which sounds like a contradiction and is not: 2792381 credits EMI Services Benelux B.V. [Printed By] for exactly this reason. The row expects a Dutch-printed card on a French-duplicated tape.
  • The row's own nine photographs - its shell frames show 7902584, the SACEM device and the Dupliqué en France par EMI PATHÉ-MARCONI S.A. foot line in the same positions as this copy.
  • Price code PM 464 and barcode 0 77779 02584 8 - carried across several European rows. Corroboration, not identity.
  • Catalogue number 264 7 90258 4 - the match axis. It returns two rows, one France and one Europe.

What is settled, and what is not

Settled on a mismatch that turned out to be the release's own design. The first reading of this copy looked like a Conflicting case: a card saying Printed in Holland wrapped around a cassette saying Dupliqué en France. The skill's precedence rules put Conflicting above everything else, so it was worth testing before anything else.

Fetching the two rows on 264 7 90258 4 settled it the other way. 2792381, the French row, credits EMI Services Benelux B.V. as printer alongside EMI as manufacturer - the split is recorded, not anomalous. Its own photographs show this shell, this spine block and this thanks panel. The other row, 2943925, records GEMA as its rights society where this shell carries SACEM SDRM.

Worth keeping as a method note: an apparent component mismatch is a hypothesis to check against the fetched data, not a finding. Here the check cost one API call and turned a Conflicting reading into a Confirmed one.

Standing caveat: a French pressing absent from Discogs cannot be excluded.
