every string on this tape is legible and none of them appears anywhere in master 19182. Across its 343 versions there is no Joy release, nothing catalogued I-058, and no barcode beginning 4 001406. The programme is the album's eight songs but not in the album's order - The Evil That Men Do and The Prophecy close side A, Can I Play With Madness opens side B - and no row in the master records that sequence either. This is the second copy on the shelf graded No match, and it means what it says: the evidence is good and it fits nothing here

The object, and what marks it out

Sleeve, labels and inserts

  • Shell - clear plastic with a cream printed paper label on both faces, five screws.
  • Inlay - a folded white card, matt, using the album artwork only as a small inset on the front panel.
  • Condition - card yellowed at the edges and creased at the folds; both labels clean.

What distinguishes this pressing

  • I-058 - returns nothing. No row in the master carries it.
  • Joy and the rainbow chevron device - no Joy label appears among the master's 343 versions.
  • Barcode 4 001406 2683 - matches no barcode recorded in the master, and its 400-440 GS1 prefix is a German range, which does not agree with the Polish rights stamp. Recorded as read, not reconciled.
  • ZAiKS beside BIEM - Poland's mechanical-rights society. This is the only country evidence on the object, and it is the basis for the Poland filing. There is no made in statement anywhere on the card or the labels.
  • The resequenced tracklist - the album's eight songs, four a side, in an order no row in the master records.

What is settled, and what is not

Decided, and the answer is not in this master. The catalogue number, the label, the barcode and the running order were all read cleanly and all four return nothing across 343 versions. That is a different fact from an identification that could not be narrowed, which is why the grade is No match rather than Narrowed.

The country is the weakest claim in this entry and is flagged as such. Nothing on the object states where it was made. ZAiKS beside BIEM is a Polish rights stamp, and rights-society-to-country is one of the inferences this method allows - but the barcode's 4 001406 prefix sits in a German GS1 range, and the two do not agree. A licence registered in one territory and a tape manufactured in another is ordinary for this kind of release; both readings are recorded here and neither is resolved.

What would change the grade: this release being catalogued on Discogs, under this master or its own, at which point it becomes an ordinary identification against a candidate list. Until then the honest record is that the strings were read, and they match nothing.
