Folder 40
Applied demonstration stickers on both the labels and the sleeve. The master lists no separate Australasian promotional entry, so this is the standard pressing with promotional stickers applied rather than a distinct release - which is a different fact from a printed promo overprint, and is recorded that way here.
Every line below was read off a native-resolution crop of the photograph named beside it.
Run-out photographed. Both sides carry PB - EMIDISC - DMM engraved, matching the string Discogs records against this release for sides A and B alike.
As Discogs records them for release 539430. Green: in my collection (5 of 5). Red: missing.

PB - EMIDISC - DMM engraved in the deadwax. Discogs caches it as a matrix value; calling it a plant code is an interpretation and nothing here rests on it.(Mushroom) credited as publisher after every track, the Australasian licensing arrangement.Bruce Dickinson - vocals · Dave Murray - lead and rhythm guitar · Adrian Smith - lead and rhythm guitar, synth · Steve Harris - bass, string synth · Nicko McBrain - drums.
Produced, engineered and mixed by Martin Birch. Mastered by George Marino at Sterling Sound, New York. Recorded at Musicland Studios, Munich. Sleeve illustration, concept and design by Derek Riggs (with Rod Smallwood). Inner-sleeve photograph by Ross Halfin. Published by Zomba Music Publishers Ltd.
Personnel and studio credits are sourced from Discogs release 576952, the UK original, and apply to the recording rather than to this pressing. The producer, publisher and copyright lines are independently corroborated by this copy's own label, quoted above.
A photograph cannot grade a record - this is a description of what is visible, not a grade.
Nothing on this page comes from playing the record. No Goldmine grade is claimed for it, or any other. I have no record of where this copy came from.
Confirmed. The master holds exactly one Australasian vinyl entry and this copy matches it on two independent values:
| Candidate | Verdict |
|---|---|
539430 - EMC.790258 | Matches. The catalogue number and the Mushroom publishing credit agree, and the engraved PB - EMIDISC - DMM is recorded by Discogs against both sides of this release. |
A single surviving candidate is not proof, so the plant code carries real weight here: it is a value that had to be read off the deadwax and compared, rather than a catalogue number that was already the basis of the match.
On the promotional stickers. They are applied labels, not printing, and Discogs records no Australasian promo release, so this entry does not invent one: the copy is the standard pressing, stickered. But note what that reasoning cannot do. With only one candidate there is nothing to discriminate from, and the standing caveat below has real force here: an Australasian promotional variant absent from Discogs would look exactly like this. The grade rests on the catalogue number, the Mushroom credit and the plant code all agreeing with the one entry that exists - not on having ruled a promo out.
Standing caveat: this method cannot exclude a pressing absent from Discogs.
