Why this grade

The inlay and the shell come from two different releases. The inlay is Italian: MADE IN ITALY BY EMI ITALIANA SpA on the rear, and the spine prints 64 above a boxed 7902584 -- read from a native crop, since 64 and 54 are one stroke apart. That matches exactly one row in the version list, 4398410 (64-7902584, Italy). The owner's note 64 7902584 077779 02584 00 agrees on the catalogue number and the barcode digits; its trailing 00 does not match the printed barcode, which ends 8 beside the bars, and it decides nothing the inlay doesn't already show. The shell, though, is not Italian: it's moulded 264 / 7 90258 4, Made in EEC by EMI, a boxed GEMA mark and German rights text (Kein Verleih! ... Vermietung, Aufführung, Sendung!). Discogs records 4398410's rights society as S I.A.E, not GEMA, and 264 7 90258 4 is the catalogue of the European cassette 2943925 (GEMA) and the French 2792381. So this is an Italian inlay in a European shell -- a mismatched copy, recorded against the inlay's release. Which European release the shell came from can't be settled from these photographs, and the version list is incomplete in any case, so an uncatalogued Italian issue in a European shell can't be ruled out either

The shell disagrees. It's moulded 264 / 7 90258 4, Made in EEC by EMI, with a GEMA box and German rights text -- the European pressing's shell, not an Italian one, whose rights society Discogs lists as SIAE.

So this is a mismatched copy, not an uncertain one. It's filed under the inlay's release. Whether the tape inside is Italian or European can't be told from the outside -- the shell says European. The version list is incomplete, so an uncatalogued issue that paired these two can't be excluded.
