The object, and what marks it out
Sleeve, labels and inserts
- Clear-shell cassette with a black printed label on both sides, out of its case and photographed loose. Both write-protect tabs are present. A cassette has no run-out or deadwax equivalent, so nothing of that kind was available to photograph.
- Paper inlay is a multi-panel fold-out, opened flat for the photographs: front artwork, spine, rear tracklist panel, an inner band-photo and line-up panel, and a credits panel.
- A separate folded lyric sheet carries all eight lyrics on white stock, with the Capitol manufacture block and
C4-90258on its rear. - An applied white label sits over the rear panel of the inlay, carrying the club catalogue number and the BMG Direct address -- printed and applied, not part of the artwork.
- Two punched holes through the rear inlay panel, as club and mail-order stock commonly carries.

Mfd. for BMG Direct Marketing, Inc. under License, printed on the shell itself as well as the applied label -- this is a record-club pressing, not the retail Capitol issue, which is what theClub Editionin release 10938074's format string records.Printed in U.S.A.and the Capitol Records, Hollywood manufacture block -- the country stated outright on the object rather than inferred from a rights society.C4-90258on the insert rear -- Capitol's own retail catalogue number for this title, carried over into the club edition's printing. It corroborates the Capitol US family; it does not identify the copy, since three other rows in this list carry that same string (releases 805636, 29212252 and 4627984).

What is settled, and what is not
The catalogue number does nearly all the work here, and there is nothing behind it. C 101498 reads cleanly at native resolution in three places on the object, and exactly one row in this master's fetched version list normalises to it: 10938074, US, Capitol Records, Cassette Album Club Edition, 1988. Country is settled independently by the inlay's own Printed in U.S.A. and the Hollywood manufacture block, so this is not a catalogue match hanging in the air.
What is missing is a second, independent reading. A cassette carries no run-out, and everything else on this copy -- the BMG Direct licence line, the Dolby HX Pro mark, the C4-90258 retail number, the tracklist -- is either shared with other Capitol US rows or is the same fact as the catalogue number restated. That is the ordinary ceiling for the format rather than a gap in the photographs, and the version list is incomplete by construction, so an uncatalogued club variant printed with the same number cannot be ruled out.
The owner's note reads the front cover as C 101398 against C101498 on the tape. The front panel cropped at native resolution reads C 101498, so that is one number across the whole copy and no second catalogue string is claimed for it.
