Why this grade

catalogue number TCP 2058 is unique among the six Turkish cassette entries fetched for this master -- the other five (ids 5747218, 13327729, 12740246, 13316794, 13316816) carry only 7 46045 4, without TCP 2058. Release 12740276's own companies field names Kent Elektronik San. Ve Tic. A.Ş. against catalogue TCP 2058, and its identifiers field records TS-2240 -- both printed verbatim on this shell. One field does not line up: Discogs' own "Manufacturing Code" identifier reads 88.34.?.008, while the shell reads 84•34•Ü•008 at native resolution on two separate photographs; given every other field matches exactly, this reads as a likely transcription slip in the Discogs entry rather than a conflict, but it is not smoothed over.

The object, and what marks it out

Sleeve, labels and inserts

  • Shell -- translucent frosted-white plastic, printed in blue; no Dolby marking or tape-type indicator visible on any photographed face.
  • J-card insert -- single fold-out card: front panel carries the sand pyramid/eye artwork above the sphinx-throne album cover panel, spine carries the tracklist and manufacturer block, inner spread carries lyrics/credits and the Turkish playback notice.
  • Banderole -- a blue foil control stamp affixed to the shell, serial 514103.

What distinguishes this pressing

  • Catalogue number TCP 2058, printed on both shell and J-card -- matches exactly one of six Turkish cassette releases in the fetched version list; the other five carry only 7 46045 4.
  • Manufacturer Kent Elektronik San. Ve Tic. A.Ş., printed in full on both shell and J-card spine -- Discogs' companies field for release 12740276 names exactly this company against catalogue TCP 2058.
  • TS-2240, printed on the shell beside a diamond TSE mark -- matches the TS-2240 identifier fetched from release 12740276.
  • 84•34•Ü•008 manufacturing code on the shell -- close to but not identical to the 88.34.?.008 code Discogs records for the same release; noted as a likely transcription variance, not a conflict, given every other field matches.

Produced, engineered and mixed by Martin Birch, assisted by Bruce Buchhalter and Frank Gibson. Mastered by George Marino at Sterling Sound. Recorded at Compass Point Studios, Nassau; mixed at Electric Lady Studios, New York. Sleeve illustration by Derek Riggs; sleeve and design concept by Derek Riggs, Iron Maiden and Rod Smallwood. Photography by Moshe Brakha. Published by Zomba Music Publishers Ltd.

Personnel and studio credits are sourced from Discogs release 1846534, the UK original, and apply to the recording rather than to this pressing. The producer, publisher and copyright lines are independently corroborated by this copy's own label, quoted above.

Condition, from the photographs

A photograph cannot grade a record - this is a description of what is visible, not a grade.

  • Case/inlay: general handling wear with some edge and corner softening; no cracks or splits visible in these shots.
  • Shell: light surface marks and handling wear are visible. No visible warping, tape spillage or shell damage in these photographs.

Nothing on this page comes from playing the record. No Goldmine grade is claimed for it, or any other. I have no record of where this copy came from.

What is settled, and what is not

Confirmed on catalogue number TCP 2058 (unique among six fetched Turkish cassette candidates), corroborated by two independent discriminators pulled from Discogs release 12740276 itself: the manufacturer credit Kent Elektronik San. Ve Tic. A.Ş. and the plant code TS-2240, both printed verbatim on this shell. The one loose thread -- an 84 vs 88 mismatch in the manufacturing-code digits -- is flagged rather than resolved. Standing caveat: this method cannot exclude a pressing absent from Discogs.
