VENTA PROHIBIDA / PROMOCIONAL ("sale prohibited / promotional").SADAIC - the Argentine authors' society. (BIEM alongside it is the international bureau and is not a country marker.)AADI-CAPIF - the Argentine performers' and producers' bodies.INDUSTRIA ARGENTINA and the EMI-Odeon SAIC address in Florida, Buenos Aires Province.10044 - the local catalogue number, carried alongside the retained UK EMD 1006 B.Bruce Dickinson - vocals · Dave Murray - lead and rhythm guitar · Adrian Smith - lead and rhythm guitar, synth · Steve Harris - bass, string synth · Nicko McBrain - drums.
Produced, engineered and mixed by Martin Birch. Mastered by George Marino at Sterling Sound, New York. Recorded at Musicland Studios, Munich. Sleeve illustration, concept and design by Derek Riggs (with Rod Smallwood). Inner-sleeve photograph by Ross Halfin. Published by Zomba Music Publishers Ltd.
Personnel and studio credits are sourced from Discogs release 576952, the UK original, and apply to the recording rather than to this pressing. The producer, publisher and copyright lines are independently corroborated by this copy's own label, quoted above.
A photograph cannot grade a record - this is a description of what is visible, not a grade.
Nothing on this page comes from playing the record. No Goldmine grade is claimed for it, or any other. I have no record of where this copy came from.
Confirmed. Argentina and catalogue 10044 are certain from the label. Discogs lists three 1988 Argentine vinyl editions, and the evidence separates them:
| Candidate | Verdict |
|---|---|
| 19183495 - Promo | Matches. Discogs states of this release: “Both labels comes with print : VENTA PROHIBIDA PROMOCIAL.” This copy carries a promotional overprint in that position. See the note below on the wording. |
| 3201586 - standard issue | Ruled out: the commercial issue carries no promotional overprint. |
| 30525115 - White Label | Ruled out: Discogs describes “handwritten white labels”; this copy has the full-colour globe label. |
The overprint is a release-specific feature documented against 19183495, which is what lifts this above Probable.
One discrepancy, stated rather than glossed over: the label photographed here reads PROMOCIONAL, while Discogs transcribes the same feature as PROMOCIAL. These are not the same string. The likeliest explanation is a transcription slip in the Discogs entry - PROMOCIONAL is the ordinary Spanish word and PROMOCIAL is not - but that is an inference, not evidence, and the possibility that the two releases carry genuinely different wording cannot be excluded from here. The identification rests on a promotional overprint being present at all, which separates this copy from both the commercial issue and the white-label edition either way.
Standing caveat: this method cannot exclude a pressing absent from Discogs altogether.
One check worth making: Discogs says both labels carry the overprint, and only side B was photographed here. A photograph of side A would confirm it. A run-out groove photograph would confirm the EMD-1006-A / EMD-1006-B etchings Discogs records for this release.
